The ferry from Paros to Naxos is the most frequent connection in the Cyclades, with up to 10 daily sailings in high season and Blue Star ferries sailing daily in almost every month (last year's data). The crossing usually takes 25 to 55 minutes, making it perfect for day trips between these neighboring islands. Ticket prices start from €5.50, making this one of the most affordable ferry hops in Greece.
Paros and Naxos face each other across a narrow channel, roughly 11 nautical miles from harbour to harbour. Parikia is a compact, lively port town with a whitewashed old quarter behind the quay, while Naxos Chora greets you with the marble Portara gateway on its islet and the Venetian Kastro rising above the waterfront. Both ports sit right in town, so you step off the boat and straight into the streets.
Most people take this hop as part of a longer island run. Paros suits travellers after Naoussa's harbour bars and easy beach days, while Naxos is bigger, greener and more rural, with mountain villages such as Halki and Apiranthos, long sandy beaches on the west coast and some of the best local produce in the Aegean. Many visitors split a week between the two, or use Naxos as a springboard to the Small Cyclades and Amorgos.
Before you book, decide what matters more: speed or price. The Seajets catamarans are the quickest but cost more, while the Blue Star ferries are slower, cheaper and take cars. On a crossing this short you rarely need to reserve weeks ahead, but in late July and August the popular midday sailings do fill, and anyone bringing a vehicle should secure a space early.
