The ferry from Paros to Ios is a key Cyclades connection. The crossing takes about 1 h on the fastest vessels, with tickets from €9.50. Sailings run all year, thinning out in winter, operated by Blue Star Ferries, Seajets and Golden Star Ferries.
This is the classic move south in a central Cyclades trip. Paros is the all-rounder: a busy harbour town in Parikia, the fishing-port charm of Naoussa, long beaches and good ferry links in every direction. Ios is smaller and more focused. By night its hilltop Chora is the party village the island is known for, but by day it is about beaches like Mylopotas and Manganari and quiet walks above the port.
You board in Parikia, right in the Paros capital, and step off at Ormos, the harbour of Ios, which sits below Chora on the west side of the island. Because the boats continue south, Ios fits neatly between Paros and Santorini, and many travellers use it as a two or three night stop on the way down rather than doing Paros to Santorini in one go.
The key choice is between speed and price. High-speed seats cost several times the cheapest conventional fare, and some Blue Star sailings leave late at night: on the 12 August 2026 sample the 22:15 departure arrived at 01:05. If you are going in July or August, sort accommodation on Ios well ahead, then book the boat that fits your check-in.
