Common packing questions for Cyclades trips
- Lightweight cotton or linen clothing, two sets of swimwear, a light layer for breezy evenings, reef-safe sunscreen, a wide-brim hat and grippy sandals for slippery marble paving. In July and August add a light windbreaker for meltemi evenings.
- Greece uses the European Type C / F socket at 230 V. A universal adapter covers both round-pin shapes; dual-voltage chargers (phones, laptops) work as they are.
- Airline-style rules do not apply on Greek ferries: you can bring liquids, sharp tools and full-size toiletries. Keep valuables in a cabin bag on overnight sailings.
- Heavy hair dryers (hotels provide them), dress shoes (sandals dominate), thick towels (beach towels are cheap on the islands) and drones without advance Greek civil aviation registration.
- Comfortable walking sandals are essential for cobbled lanes. Bring flip-flops for beaches and water shoes for rocky shores, plus trainers if you plan to hike trails on Amorgos or Sifnos.
- Most hotels provide towels, but a quick-dry microfibre towel is handy for spontaneous beach stops and ferry rides.
- At least SPF 50: the Greek sun is intense. Plan on about one bottle per person per week. You can buy sunscreen on the islands, but it usually costs more there.
