Sikinos is one of the least visited islands in the Cyclades, a steep, quiet place between Ios and Folegandros with a small port, a double hilltop village of Chora and Kastro, terraced slopes and a few beaches. It suits travellers who want an island almost to themselves after the busy harbours and beach clubs of Paros.
Getting there from Paros is the tricky part. Our route data lists two operators on this crossing, Blue Star Ferries and Seajets, both of which do call at Sikinos on other routes, but we have no sampled timetable for Paros to Sikinos and Ferryhopper does not publish a page for the pair. We therefore cannot confirm which days, if any, a direct boat runs, and we would not plan around one without checking.
The good news is that Ios, Sikinos's close neighbour, has plenty of boats from Paros, and the Ios to Sikinos hop takes 10 to 25 minutes. Folegandros and Santorini also have regular links to Sikinos. So even without a direct sailing, you can usually reach the island in a day, as long as the second boat runs on the same date.
Before booking, sort out your room on Sikinos, since there are only a few places to stay, and check the arrival time of your last boat, because the island has limited transport once the ship has left.
