01The short version

Introduction to Sikinos.

Sikinos is arguably the most traditional island in the Cyclades, a tiny, quiet place where you'll find tourism is measured in dozens rather than thousands. The twin hilltop villages of Chora and Kastro, the ancient Temple of Episkopi, and the sense of absolute authenticity make Sikinos a pilgrimage for travellers seeking the "real" Greece.

  • traditional village rooms
  • simple domatia

When to book

June–September only. Even in August, Sikinos is quiet. No need to book very far ahead except for the few best rooms.

Practical tips

Ferry from Piraeus (7h) or Ios/Folegandros (30min–1h). No car needed. Walk or use the minibus between port and Chora.

How to choose

Chora for the authentic experience. Alopronia only if you need beach access.

For families

Very safe and quiet, but limited facilities. Best for families who enjoy simplicity. Alopronia beach is suitable for children.

For couples
