Sifnos is one of the gentlest islands in the western Cyclades, with walking paths between hill villages, pottery workshops and a proud cooking tradition. Syros, north-east of it in the centre of the group, is the opposite kind of place: a working island with a real town, Ermoupoli, as its port and capital, and boats heading to Tinos, Mykonos and beyond. Travellers make this move when they want to finish a trip in the busier central islands, or catch a flight or ferry from a better-connected hub.
There is no direct link we can document. Ferryhopper had no route page for Sifnos to Syros in either direction when we checked on 24 September 2026, and we have no sampled timetable for a direct sailing. Older listings on our own site could not be matched to any dated timetable, so we do not repeat their times and prices. If a ship happens to call at both islands on your date, the booking search will show it.
For most dates, the answer is to change at Paros. From May to October, Seajets runs a direct 55-minute boat from Sifnos to Paros on several days a week, and Blue Star Ferries sails the same leg two or three days a week in every month on a longer itinerary. From Paros, boats to Syros run 4 to 7 days a week, with Blue Star Ferries all year and Seajets in the busier months.
Piraeus is the backup, especially in winter: boats leave Sifnos for Piraeus on 4 to 7 days a week, and Piraeus has sailings to Syros every day. It is a longer trip, but it gives you more departure choices when the Paros connection does not fit.
