🏖️ Beach Life
1. Mylopotas Beach
A golden 1km crescent of sand, one of the finest beaches in the Cyclades. Crystal-clear shallow water, beach bars on one end, quiet space on the other. Water sports center offers jet skis, tubes, and banana boat rides. The social heart of Ios.
2. Manganari Beach
A remote paradise on the south coast, four connected bays of white sand and turquoise water, backed by desert-like hills. Reached by bus (30 min) or boat from the port. Pack supplies, facilities are limited.
3. Kleftiko Beach (by boat)
Sea caves and rock formations accessible only by boat from the port. Crystal water for snorkeling among volcanic formations. Half-day boat tours from €40.
4. Kalamos Beach
A quiet rocky cove on the east coast with the clearest water on the island, visibility over 30 meters. No facilities, no crowds. Perfect for snorkeling.

5. Chora Nightlife
The main village comes alive after midnight with over 50 bars and clubs packed into whitewashed lanes barely wider than your shoulders. Start at the main square, work down to the "Strip." Shots are cheap, the energy is contagious. Season: June–September.
6. Sunset at the Windmills
Three stone windmills perch above Chora with panoramic views of the port, Mylopotas, and the open sea. The sunset from here's Ios's most photogenic moment. Arrive by 19:00 in summer.
7. Visit Homer's Tomb
According to ancient tradition, Homer, author of the Iliad and Odyssey, died and was buried on Ios. A monument marks the mythical burial site on the northern tip of the island. The 45-minute hike from Plakotos offers spectacular views. Bring water.

8. Skarkos Prehistoric Settlement
A remarkably well-preserved Early Bronze Age settlement (3300–2300 BC) on a hilltop above Chora. Won the European Heritage Prize. Multi-room stone buildings, narrow streets, and evidence of advanced social organization. Entry: €4.
9. Paleokastro Byzantine Ruins
The ruins of a medieval fortress on the island's highest point (713m). A challenging but rewarding hike with 360° views of Santorini, Naxos, Paros, and Sikinos. Bring sturdy shoes and 2L of water. Start early.

Visit an Ios olive grove for a tasting and tour. The island's small-batch olive oil is exceptional, peppery, green, and produced in limited quantities.
