The climate is mild, perfect for navigating the extensive stone-paved footpaths. Summer (July-August) can be challenging; Andros sits directly in the path of the Northern winds, and the Chora can be excessively windy, while the interior heat makes hiking strenuous.

Because Andros is only a two-hour ferry ride from the port of Rafina, it serves as a weekend retreat for Athenians. Consequently, the island fills up on weekends year-round, but especially in summer. For a quieter experience, aim for mid-week travel.
