04Planning advice

How to plan your Andros stay.

When to book

May–October. Andros is popular with Athenians on weekends (especially Batsi). Weekdays are quieter. Spring (April–May) is exceptional for hiking with waterfalls at full flow.

Practical tips

Ferries from Rafina take just 2 hours, the closest Cycladic island to Athens. A car is essential. Andros is large and mountainous. The Andros Route hiking trails are signposted and well-maintained.

How to choose

Chora for culture and art. Batsi for beach and family stays. Korthi is a quieter alternative in the south. Hikers should choose a central location for trail access.

For families

Batsi is family-friendly with its sandy beach and organised facilities. The island's hiking trails include easy routes suitable for children. Waterfalls and springs add adventure.

For couples

Andros Chora at sunset, with its neoclassical mansions overlooking the sea, is deeply romantic. Dine in a marble-paved square, hike to a hidden waterfall, and stay in a restored mansion.
