Serifos and Kythnos are next-door neighbours in the western Cyclades, two quieter islands close to Athens that suit travellers after beaches and villages rather than big-name nightlife. Linking them makes an easy two-island trip close to Athens: Serifos with its hilltop Chora above the port of Livadi, and Kythnos with its thermal springs at Loutra and small harbour at Merichas.
The crossing is quick. In summer the fastest option is Seajets, at about 40 minutes, and Magic Sea Ferries runs its catamaran Cat I on the route too, taking about 1 hr 10 min. On the day we sampled, 12 August 2026, there were two departures from Livadi: the Seajets Champion Jet 1 at 11:25, from €51.40, and the Cat I at 16:40, from €45.
The rest of the year looks different. In last year's data the fast boats appeared in only part of the year, and in the other months the route relied on the conventional ships of Aegean Sea Lines and Fast Ferries, which take about 1 hr 25 min and cost far less, from €12 in Ferryhopper's monthly table, but sail only a few days a week or less.
Ferryhopper has no separate page for this direction, so the operator details here come from the Serifos to Kythnos figures on its Kythnos to Serifos page, checked on 24 September 2026, together with our own timetable sample. Our older route data listed a two-hour crossing and different operators, which those figures do not support, so always check your sailing on the booking page.
