Schinoussa is one of the smallest inhabited islands of the Small Cyclades, the scatter of islets between Naxos and Amorgos. It has a hilltop village, a little harbour, a few dirt tracks and a surprising number of sandy coves for its size, and it attracts people who want to swim, walk and eat slowly for a few days. There is no nightlife to speak of, and that is its appeal.
Nearly everyone reaches Schinoussa from Naxos. Naxos has the airport, the big ships from Piraeus and connections to Paros, Mykonos and Santorini; Schinoussa has the local boat. That boat is the Express Skopelitis of Small Cyclades Lines, which Ferryhopper describes as a conventional ferry calling at Iraklia and Schinoussa on its way from Naxos to Koufonisia. On our 12 August 2026 sample it was the only sailing listed from Naxos to Schinoussa.
Our older route data also lists Blue Star Ferries and Seajets on this crossing. Blue Star's big ships do serve the Small Cyclades, and our Schinoussa to Naxos page notes them too, but we found no dated departure to confirm either company on this exact link, so we do not quote their times or prices here. If one appears in the booking box for your date, it is a bonus.
Because Schinoussa is so thinly served, plan backwards from the boat. Check the sailing day for your dates, then book your room. If you are flying into Naxos, a morning arrival should leave time for an afternoon sailing like the one we sampled, but do not cut it fine.
