Folegandros has a short, intense season. June through September. Book 3–4 months ahead for July–August as capacity is very limited. September is magical with warm seas and fewer people.
Ferries from Piraeus take 5–7 hours. No airport, no cars needed (the island is tiny). Walk everywhere or use the minibus. Book accommodation with port transfer as the walk to Chora is uphill. Bring cash, some places don't accept cards.
Stay in Chora for the full Folegandros experience, views, dining, and atmosphere. Choose Karavostasis only for budget or ferry convenience. Agali is perfect if beach proximity matters most.
Folegandros is manageable with older children who enjoy hiking and nature. Young families should note the cliff edges in Chora and limited beach facilities. Angali beach is the safest for swimming.
