1. Sarakiniko: The Moon Beach
Milos's most famous landscape: wind-sculpted white volcanic rock formations rising from turquoise water. It looks like walking on the moon. Arrive before 09:00 for photos without crowds. No shade, bring your own. Free.
2. Tsigrado: The Adventure Beach
Access via a vertical ladder and rope descent down a cliff face. The reward: a tiny, stunning cove with crystal water and a dramatic sea cave entrance. Not for the faint-hearted. Bring water shoes.
3. Firiplaka: The Golden Beach
A long sandy beach with multicolored volcanic cliffs (white, yellow, orange, red) rising behind. Organized end with sunbeds; wild end for naturists. One of the best swimming beaches on the island.
4. Papafragas: The Sea Cave Beach
Three connected sea caves with a tiny beach at the bottom, accessed via steep stairs. The turquoise water glows between narrow volcanic walls. Spectacular but crowded midday, arrive early.
5. Paliochori: The Hot Spring Beach
A beach where volcanic geothermal vents heat the sand and sea. Dig into the sand near the cliffs and feel the warmth. A beachside taverna cooks food using volcanic heat from underground!

8. Christian Catacombs of Milos
One of the most important early Christian monuments in Greece, underground burial chambers dating from the 1st–5th centuries AD. Only three such catacombs exist worldwide (the others are in Rome and the Vatican). Small but fascinating. Entry: €4.
9. Ancient Theatre of Milos
A beautifully preserved Hellenistic/Roman theater overlooking the sea. The Venus de Milos (now in the Louvre) was discovered nearby in 1820. The theater hosts summer performances, check local listings.
10. Plaka Castle (Kastro) at Sunset
Climb to the ruined Venetian castle at the top of Plaka for 360° views of the island, the caldera bay, and neighboring islands. The sunset from here rivals Oia, without the crowds. Free.
🎣 Fishing Villages
11. Klima: The Colorful Syrmata
Milos's most photographed village: a row of brightly painted boat houses (syrmata) built directly into the volcanic rock, with the sea lapping at their doors. The colors, azure, coral, lemon, jade, are unforgettable. Walk the narrow waterfront at golden hour.
12. Mandrakia
A tiny fishing hamlet of 6–8 syrmata, even quieter than Klima. A single taverna serves fresh fish. The boat houses are built into wave-carved volcanic caves. Utterly charming.
13. Firopotamos
A secluded cove with white syrmata, a tiny beach, and a chapel. One of the most peaceful spots on Milos. Swim in the crystal-clear bay, then walk up to the headland for views.

14. Eat Pitarakia at a Local Taverna
Milos's signature dish: fried cheese pies with local mizithra cheese, onion, and mint. Crispy outside, molten inside. Best at traditional tavernas in Plaka or Triovasalos.
15. Sunset at O! Hamos! Taverna
The most famous taverna on Milos, reservation-only, set in a garden above the port of Adamas. Traditional Milian food, locally sourced ingredients, and a festive atmosphere. Book 3+ days ahead.
16. Volcanic Mineral Hot Springs
Visit the natural sulfur hot springs at Paleochori or the Agia Kyriaki thermal area. The volcanic geology means warm water and mineral-rich bathing spots. Completely free and natural.

17. Hike the Volcanic Landscapes
Marked trails cross Milos's bizarre volcanic terrain: multicolored rock formations, mineral deposits, and abandoned sulfur mines. The Cape Vani trail on the northwest coast is particularly dramatic. Carry water, no shade.
18. Explore Adamas & the Mining Museum
The port town of Adamas has a surprisingly good mining museum documenting Milos's 10,000-year relationship with its volcanic minerals (obsidian, sulfur, kaolin, bentonite). Free entry. The waterfront promenade is lovely for evening strolls.
