A spectacular Cycladic hilltop capital cascading down a steep slope, crowned by a Venetian castle. Atmospheric lanes, two lovely plateias with tavernas, and the island's best boutique hotels. You'll climb steps everywhere, pack light.
The port and main settlement, wrapped around a sheltered bay with a long tamarisk-shaded beach, waterfront tavernas, and most of the island's rooms and studios. Everything practical happens here: ferries, supermarkets, bike hire, nightlife (by Serifos standards).
One bay west of Livadi, a 10-minute walk over the headland: golden sand, calm shallow water, and a cluster of studios and small hotels in the greenery behind the beach. The island's campsite sits here too, giving it a young, easy-going feel.
Serifos' most beautiful beach, a Blue-Flag arc of fine white sand with two seasonal tavernas, 10 minutes from Livadi by car or a scenic 45-minute coastal walk. A handful of rooms and villas nearby suit travellers who want the beach to themselves at 8am.
Serifos excels in intimate boutique hospitality, owner-run properties with Cycladic character, personal service, and curated breakfast featuring local produce.
Traditional stone villas and restored houses with private terraces, sea views, and authentic charm. Ideal for families and groups wanting space and independence in Serifos.
Family-run studios with kitchenettes and balconies are the backbone of Serifos accommodation, genuine hospitality at excellent value.
Traditional Greek rooms to let offer the most authentic and affordable Serifos experience. Simple, clean, and often run by local families who share insider tips.
June–September is the season; July weekends spike with Athenians (Serifos is their badly-kept secret), so book those 2–3 months ahead. June and September give you the same beaches at 30% less, and most tavernas in Livadi stay open into early October.
Ferry from Piraeus takes 2.5h (high-speed) to 4h (conventional), with connections on to Sifnos, Milos and Kythnos. A small car or ATV for a day or two unlocks the wild west-coast beaches (Vagia, Ganema, Megalo Livadi); the hourly bus covers the Livadi–Chora hairpins.
Chora for views and atmosphere, Livadi for beach-plus-convenience, Livadakia if you want sand at your doorstep on a budget. There's no wrong answer: nothing on Serifos is more than 20 minutes from anything else.
Livadi and Livadakia beaches are shallow and sheltered, studios with kitchenettes are the norm, and the island is quiet and safe. Facilities are simple, but the hospitality is the real thing.
Serifos Chora at sunset is unforgettable. Dine under the stars in tiny tavernas, walk to remote beaches hand-in-hand, and enjoy an island that feels discovered rather than developed.
