What to know before renting a car in the Cyclades.

  • On larger islands like Naxos, Paros and Santorini a rental car is the quickest way to reach remote beaches and inland villages. On smaller islands (Folegandros, Koufonisia, Schinoussa) a scooter, ATV or even walking is usually enough.

  • You need a valid driving license (EU licenses are accepted directly; non-EU visitors should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their national license), a passport or ID, and a credit or debit card. Minimum age is usually 21 with at least 1 year of driving experience.
