01Información del aeropuerto

Acerca de Milos Aeropuerto.

Milos Airport (MLO) is the gateway to Greece's most unique volcanic island, home to the iconic Sarakiniko lunar landscape, 70+ beaches, and colorful fishing villages like Klima.

Flying is the fastest way to reach these landscapes, but capacity is severely limited. MLO's small apron can only handle one large turboprop at a time, making seats expensive (approximately €200 round-trip in peak season). Book 4-8 weeks ahead or consider the ferry alternative.

The airport is just 5km from Adamas (the main port), a quick 5-minute taxi ride. International visitors connect via Athens for a total journey of approximately 4 hours.

Pista

FAQ

Preguntas frecuentes sobre los vuelos a Milos.

  • Only 5km from Adamas (the main port), roughly a 5-minute taxi ride (€12-20). Very convenient for getting to your hotel quickly.
  • MLO has a small apron that can only handle one large turboprop at a time. Limited capacity (2-4 flights daily) drives prices up, especially in summer (~€200 round-trip peak). Book 4-8 weeks ahead.
  • No direct international flights to Milos. Connect via Athens (add 3-4 hours total). The Athens-Milos flight is just 45 minutes.
  • Flying saves 3-6 hours (45min vs 4-7h ferry) but costs more (€60-130 vs €42-55). If time matters, fly. If budget matters, the ferry from Piraeus is scenic and affordable.
  • Milos's most famous beach, white volcanic rocks sculpted by wind and waves, resembling a lunar landscape. Best visited early morning or sunset. A 15-minute drive from Adamas.
  • Absolutely essential! The 70+ beaches are spread across the island. Rent a car or ATV to explore properly. Book ahead in summer, they sell out.
  • Klima is the most photographed village in Milos, colorful boathouses (syrmata) built into the cliffs at water level. Also visit Mandrakia and Firopotamos for similar charm.
  • 3-4 days minimum for main sights. 5-7 days to explore fully including boat tours to hidden coves, hiking, and visiting neighboring Kimolos.
  • May-June and September offer perfect weather, fewer crowds, and better flight availability. July-August is peak with highest prices and sold-out flights.
  • A must-do! Full-day boat tours visit inaccessible beaches like Tsigrado, Kleftiko, and Sykia Cave. Book in advance (€80-120 per person). Best way to see Milos's coastline.
  • Limited airport capacity (one turboprop at a time) creates a supply bottleneck. Only 2-4 flights daily mean high demand exceeds supply, especially in peak season. Consider the ferry from Piraeus (€42-55, 4-7 hours) as an affordable alternative.
  • No direct flights. You'd need to connect via Athens (adds 3+ hours). Instead, take the ferry, it's 3-5 hours direct, costs €35-55, and offers beautiful Aegean views. Much more practical than flying.
  • Not anymore! With daily flights from Athens (45 min), Milos is easily accessible. It offers unique geology, fewer crowds than Santorini/Mykonos, and incredible beaches. Perfect for adventurous first-timers seeking authenticity.
  • Comfortable walking shoes for hiking to beaches, swimwear, reef shoes for rocky coves, sun protection (strong UV), camera for Sarakiniko/Kleftiko, and a light jacket for windy boat tours. Rent a car or ATV upon arrival.
  • No ATM at Milos Airport. Bring cash or use the ATMs in Adamas (5km away, 5-minute taxi ride). Most car rental agencies and transfers accept cards, but having €50-100 cash is prudent for small expenses.
