Wind Management
Milos is highly sensitive to the Meltemi. Its most famous beaches (Sarakiniko, Papafragas, Moon Beach) are on the North coast. During strong North winds in July and August, these beaches are battered by waves and unsafe for swimming. The boat tours to Kleftiko may also be cancelled. June and late September statistically offer calmer seas, allowing you to enjoy the full range of the island’s coast.
Shoulder Season Strategy
Because Sarakiniko is a "must-photo" location, it is overrun in high season. Visiting in May or October allows you to experience the white volcanic rock against the blue sea in solitude.
