1. Pori Beach
The crown jewel of Koufonisia, a long crescent of golden sand with turquoise water that rivals the Caribbean. Now protected under Greece's "Untrodden Beaches" program (2026), no commercial sunbeds, natural state only. Bring your own shade. A 30-minute walk from the village.
2. Walk the Coastal Path: Finikas → Italida → Pori
The essential Koufonisia experience. A flat, easy coastal path connects a series of increasingly beautiful coves along the south coast. Each beach is more stunning than the last. Allow 2–3 hours for the full walk with swimming stops.
3. Swim at Platia Pounta
A wide natural pool formed by flat rock shelves with crystal water. At the end of the coastal path beyond Pori. Dramatic cliff formations and the famous "Devil's Eye" sea cave nearby.
4. Devil's Eye (Gala) Sea Cave
A narrow cave opening leads to a hidden chamber where the water glows an otherworldly milky blue-green from underwater light refraction. Swim in to experience it, mesmerizing.

5. Boat Trip to Kato Koufonisi
The uninhabited sister island is a pristine paradise, untouched beaches, a single seasonal taverna, and absolute solitude. Small boats depart from the port daily in summer (€10–€15 return). Pack food and water.
6. Sea Cave Boat Tour
Join a small-boat excursion along the dramatic south coast to explore sea caves, natural arches, and hidden coves inaccessible on foot. Half-day tours from €25. Best in calm conditions.

7. Fresh Seafood at the Port
The tiny port has 5–6 tavernas serving fish caught that morning. Lobster pasta (astakomakaronada) is the island specialty, expensive but unforgettable. Book the waterfront table at sunset.
8. Evening Volta (Stroll)
The nightly ritual: walk the short main street, stop for an ouzo, greet returning fishermen, watch children play. Koufonisia's village has no cars, no traffic lights, and barely any stress.

9. Sunrise from the Windmill
A restored windmill above the port offers the best sunrise view on the island. Face east toward Keros (a sacred Bronze Age site) as the Aegean turns from steel-blue to gold.
10. Visit Keros (View Only)
The uninhabited island of Keros, visible from Koufonisia, was one of the most important Bronze Age sanctuaries in the Aegean, origin of the famous Cycladic marble figurines. You can't land there (archaeological protection zone), but the view is powerful.
