“Coming from The Bahamas we always like to try out fishing in different places. This trip far exceeded our expectations. Captain Makis is THE Santorini fisherman from a long lineage of fishermen. The Boat is frankly outstanding, custom built by the Capt. on a 33ft Bertram hull with 3 ft transom and 12ft beam. This is one of the most trusted hulls in the US and takes the seas beautifully. We departed from the stunning village of Ammoudi with its red cliffs and seafood restaurants. First Mate Eli then gave us a fascinating talk through the history of Santorini and the surrounding islands. Skirting around the many cliffs we saw the rock layers from many volcanic eruptions over millions of years. All the while we were trolling ledges and caught a Golden Grouper and Mackerel which the Capt and Eli cleaned straight out of the water. We then went swimming on a sunken boat in a beautiful crystal clear cove on Nea Kammeni Islet while they cooked us an amazing dinner of Mackerel ceviche, bbq fish, bbq tomato fritters, Greek salad and crusty bread with Olive Oil with the sun setting on the cliffs of Santorini, and ample Assyrtiko white wine and beer. We then cruised back to Ammoudi as the sun went down for a beautiful sunset. JUST AN AMAZING DAY AND THE CAPTAIN AND ELI ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE FULL OF GREAT STORIES AND FUN.”

Our captain and his mate where full of local knowledge and could not have been more friendly and accommodating. We trawled for barracuda and my daughter caught one which was deliciously prepared for lunch on board by the captian. Let’s sail away together and explore the most beautiful sites of Santorini island, the unique landscapes, and the deep Aegean Sea! Our journey begins either in the morning at 09:00, or in the afternoon at 15:00, from the small port of Ammoudi , a picturesque location below Oia village , which used to be a Fishermen’s Harbour. Transportation from/to your hotel is included in the tour.
As the tour continues, we reach the nearby island of Therasia , where our experienced crew will teach you the techniques and tricks that local fishermen used to catch their fish. Relax, enjoy the stunning view around, and wait for your best catch! The fish that are usually found in these waters are Bass, Cod, Grouper, barracuda, Tuna, and many more. With all the fishing equipment provided on board (Snorkeling masks, Baits e.t.c), and the help of the most experienced captain/fisherman, a great catch is guaranteed!
Next, we will pass by Aspronisi island with its white color, before we reach our second destination, the Volcano of Santorini . There, you will have the chance to discover the extraordinary waters of the Hot Springs , on an alternative swimming experience, feel their warmth and enjoy their beneficial effects! It’s also time to eat the catch of the day , along with some delicious local homemade dishes , accompanied by the famous Santorini wine, as well as beers, and soft drinks .
As we continue, we will pass by some hidden spots on the caldera, for amazing photos of the Volcanic rocks and the breathtaking scenery, until we reach Ammoudi port, where the tour also ends. This private fishing experience in Santorini was a perfect way to spend the afternoon/evening. This private fishing experience in Santorini with drinks and a bbq seafood meal was perfection for mine and my family’s first full day here. The views were amazing, the crystal clear water was refreshing, the meal with the fresh caught fish (barracuda in our case) was delicious, and the captain and the host were the best part! The captain’s story and knowledge was inspiring and the host’s kindness made us very comfortable. I really could not recommend more!
